I dated James' birthdate incorrectly. it was 1718. He was educated in Dublin, and married in l739. I would like to verify information concerning his parentage. He is said to have been the older brother of Thomas Butler b l720, who came to America in 1748 and settled in Lancaster County, had five illustrious soldier sons, etc. In may book "The Butler Family in America" compiled c l907 by Joseph Marion Butler and William David Butler, it states on pg 16, that Thomas Butler, b Dublin 1720, etc. was the grandson of Edmond Butler 8th Baronet Dunboyne. It seems likely that James b l7l8 in the same parish had the same parentage as Thomas. On page 15 of the same book one reads:" The 8th Baron married Anne, widow of Richard Nagle, and daughter of Oliver Grace of Shanganagh and Had four sons and one daughter:- His Lordship died in 1732 and was succeeded by his eldest son. Jame 9th Baron Dunboyne at whose decease S> P> l168 the barony devolved upon his brother.,- Pierce 10th Lord Dunboyne who died l773 and left a son and only child who succeeded as,-Pierce Edmund Creagh 11th Baron Dunboyne, at whose dedease unmarried December, l785, the dignity reverted to his uncle,- the Right Reverend and Hon. John Butler, D.D., and it continues --. Is Jane Eccles this information verifiable?
