I am interested in the Butlers from Bramshott, Hampshire. They first appeared in 1666 and then several generations born in and around Bramshott.
In 1770 a Michael Butler appeared in the village and married a Mary Sikes. Michael's birth place was recorded as 'Fearderd, Tipperary'. I assume this was meant to be Fethard.
It appears more than a coincidence that someone from Tipperary should appear in a small village in Hampshire where several generations of Butlers have lived to get married - were they related?
So far I have been unable to trace the origins of original Butlers who appeared in Bramshott in 1666 but local historians state they were descendants of a noble family from Ireland.
